Meal Plan Policies

Our meal plan policies help ensure an enjoyable dining experience for everyone. These policies apply to all users of Tufts Dining’s facilities. Please review the policies so you are familiar with our dining expectations.

Your Tufts ID Card

You need your Tufts ID card to access Carmichael and Dewick-MacPhie Dining Centers. We will swipe your ID card as you enter. For security, your card may not be used by others. Meal plan privileges are not transferable. Using someone else’s ID or allowing someone to use your ID is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.

Lost or Stolen ID Cards

Report a lost or stolen ID card immediately. To report a lost or stolen card, you should 1) contact campus police and 2) log in to your JumboCash account and use the designated link to report your card as lost or stolen. Reporting a lost or stolen card immediately will block unauthorized JumboCash spending and use of the lost or stolen card. There may be a replacement fee for lost or stolen cards.

Call these phone numbers to contact your campus police:

  • Boston Campus Police: 617-636-6610
  • Grafton Campus Police: 508-839-5053
  • Medford/Somerville Campus Police: 617-627-3030

Use Meals, Don't Lose Meals

Unused meals expire at the end of each term. Meals can't be carried forward from one term to the next, so use them up! Meals can NOT be converted to JumboCash. See our Use Meals Don't Lose Meals chart to help you determine what your average meal balance should be each week in order to use all your meals by the end of the term.

Removing Food from the Dining Centers

You may eat as much as you’d like while dining at Carmichael and Dewick-MacPhie Dining Centers, but food should be eaten in the dining center and may not be not taken out.

When you leave Carmichael or Dewick-MacPhie, you're welcome to take a single snack, such as a piece of fruit, a cookie, or an ice cream cone. However, packing up food, stuffing your backpack with food, or bringing containers to fill with snacks or entire meals is not allowed. Anyone found to violate this policy is subject to a student affairs judicial process and possibly fines.
